The Whitstable School gets the best results for a high school in the district!

Of the students in Year 11 who sat their exams at The Whitstable School, nearly 90% of students achieved a pass in at least one GCSE English subject or GCSE Maths. Overall, 65% achieved a pass in both English and Maths. Notably, every student in our Grammar stream achieved 5 GCSEs at Grades 9 to 4 including English and Maths. In fact, these students achieved on average over half a grade higher than their peers nationally!

Particular congratulations go to Megan Chatwin, Marcus Jackson, Alex Dickers and Orla Preston-Hibbert  who achieved GCSE grades 8 and 9 across their qualifications, including English, Maths, Science, Food Technology, Geography, History and Photography. The school is also delighted with students, such as Daisy Cooper, who made excellent progress achieving on average, 2 grades higher than their peers across the country who had similar KS2 starting points.

Not to be out done, the vocational BTEC subjects all achieved 100% pass rates with students getting the top Distinction and Distinction* grades in Business Studies, Drama, Music, Health & Social Care and Sport.

This is the second year of the reformed GCSE examination system which are increasingly relying on students’ ability to recall knowledge and vocabulary over a significant period of time. This is not something that can be achieved easily and our students should be very proud of the resilience and high levels of effort they have shown over their time spent here at The Whitstable School.
