Free School Meal vouchers for October half term -

Kent County Council has announced vouchers for food are available during half-term for families whose children are eligible for benefits related free school meals, so that no Kent child goes hungry.

A dedicated helpline has been set up. Families who apply will receive one supermarket voucher of £15 per child.

Anyone eligible for free school meals who needs extra financial support to help feed their children can now visit www.kent.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals or call the dedicated helpline on 03000 41 24 24. Families have until next Monday 2nd November 5pm to apply.

BTEC LEVEL 3 - DIGITAL CONTENT PRODUCTION PATHWAY

 

Qualities expected in prospective students include independence, determination, excellent communication both written and verbal and a sense of curiosity and enthusiasm about technology and the digital world.

 

This qualification is designed to provide a technical introduction to digital content publishing. You will develop skills in areas such as digital magazine production and image manipulation techniques.

In readiness for this course, we have prepared some resources and materials to expand your knowledge and develop your curiosity and learning in this subject.

The units you will study are as follows:

Unit 3: Digital Media Skills

Unit 9: App Production

Unit 14: Digital Magazine Production

Unit 28: Image Manipulation Techniques

Unit 29: 2D Digital Graphics

Please could you do the following before you start the course and hand in during your first week of lessons (or before if you would like feedback)

 

Part A:

Find two contrasting magazine covers. For example it could be Sport and Fashion or Film and Childrens. It doesn’t matter which two you choose just make sure they are different.

Tip: You don’t need to buy the magazine, you can do a Google Search for magazine covers. Or look on Amazon / Myfavouritemagazines

 

Part B:

Compare and contrast your two magazine covers and answer the following questions:

  1. Who is the target audience for these magazines? Think about age, gender, hobbies and interests.

 

  1. How do the magazine covers appeal to the audiences you’ve identified in question 1?

    1. How is colour used?

    2. How is typography used?

    3. How are images used?

 

  1. Why do you think it is important to think about the target audience when designing a magazine?
