Student Leadership at The Whitstable School

Empowering the Future: Student Leadership at The Whitstable School

At The Whitstable School, we believe in giving our students a voice and empowering them to be the leaders of tomorrow. Our student leadership programs, particularly within the Sixth Form, provide invaluable opportunities for our young people to make a real difference, develop crucial skills, and inspire their peers.

Highlights of Our Student Leaders' Impact

  • Exceptional Head Students: We are incredibly proud of our Head Student, Izzy, who has been invited to address Parliament in January, linking her work with the influential Generation FOMO initiative. This remarkable opportunity demonstrates the calibre of our student leaders and their ability to engage with national issues.

  • Sixth Form Leadership Team: Our dedicated Sixth Form leadership team is at the heart of key initiatives, ensuring student perspectives are heard and acted upon. They work hard to create new leadership opportunities for their peers, demonstrating collaborative effort and strong vision.

  • Successful Reading Mentorship Scheme: Our leaders champion literacy through the Reading Mentor Scheme. This program, which pairs Sixth Formers with younger students, is a huge success. The positive impact and relationship-building were recently celebrated with a successful Reading Mentor and Mentee trip.

  • Engaging with Democracy: Our student leaders don't just talk about change; they see it in action. A group of our student leaders and other students will be taking part in a trip to Parliament, offering them a first-hand look at the democratic process and how they can influence it.

  • Building Connections: We are always looking for ways to further integrate student voice. We are keen to have our Head Students invited to Pupil Parliaments to build stronger cross-school communication and collaborative action.

Get Involved!

We are committed to expanding our leadership opportunities. Student leaders at The Whitstable School are not just figureheads—they are active agents of positive change within our school and the wider community.
